Geranium Regenerating Serum

Expectations

The product says online and on the packaging that it is supposed to act as an age defense and moisturizer. They did not specify what ingredients are the key ones that will perform these miracles. So, I will break down the ingredients to figure out which ones will do what.

Sunflower Oil (Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil) – This ingredient acts as a moisturizer or emollient. It protects the skin from dryness by acting as a shield from water escaping (evaporation). It also has a large amount of Vitamin E, so the skin is also healed and protected by the vitamin.

Pomegranate Seed Extract (Puncia Granatum) – this ingredient has been studied, and has been found to be able to scavenge and destroy free radicals. It also has a large quantity of antioxidants to get rid of the oxidation process on the skin’s surface.

Frankinscense (Resin Extract; Boswellia Carterri) – this is an essential oil that is used for aromatherapy.  Some research suggest it is beneficial for depressive disorders.

Geranium Flower Oil (Pelargonium Graveolens) – an essential oil used for aromatherapy.

Chamomile Flower Extract (Matricaria Recutita) – Chamomile Extract has anti-inflammatory properties . And due to it’s histamine release inhibition, it stops free radicals that thrive on super-oxide synthesis. It also augments blood flow (a process called Vasodilator action) which soothes irritation and makes for a healthy glow.

Rosehip Seed Extract (Rosa Canina) – Rosehip is a natural source of vitamin C. That being the case, it has repairing action for wrinkles and skin discoloration.  It is also a source of linoleic and linolenic acid, which gives it moisturizing properties. It is also believed to improve the skin’s elasticity by stimulating the production of collagen in fibroblast cells; thus, it regenerates old cells and improves the texture of the epidermis (top layer of skin). This being the case, it reduces skin blemishes and irritations.

*This product may have skin lightening properties due to its inhibition of melanin biosynthesis (creation), so be careful if you have darker skin*

Helichrysum Italicum Oil – Helichrysum is a healing oil that can go on cuts and wounds to heal them. It is also an anti-inflammatory oil as well as a compound that disperses free-radicals. It can heal bruising and also serves as an essential oil for aromatherapy. Check out all its benefits at the Helichrysum Italicum website.

Rosemary Leaf Extract (Rosmarinus Officinalis) – Rosemary is used as an antiseptic and anticellulite (cellulite fighter).

Review

The effects of this serum should be relatively instant. When it goes on it should moisturize and begin to brighten the skin.

Day 1

Hydration: I am hydrated, most definately. It feels really nice on the skin. I feel the oil but it is not overwhelmingly oily. I have oily skin so I would notice if it was making my skin look ridiculous.

Revitalization: My skin does look like there is more warmth to it. I definately feel warmer when I wear it. But it’s not an irritable warmth, but like oranges or something to that effect of feeling good. It is most likely the Vitamin C in the Rosehip.

Anti-Aging: I have noticed that since my skin is more hydrated that there is less lines to be noticed.

Aroma Therapy: The smell of this serum is amazing. I go to bed with good feelings when I wear it. It also doesn’t leave oil on my pillow (but my pillow does smell nice).

Day 15

Hydration: My skin feels great. It is not oily or dry. I feel like it is softer. I also put the stuff on my skin when I have breakouts and the breakouts go away the next day. It has been acting as an anti-flammatory and anti-septic. That’s wonderful because I need that in a serum when my acne flairs.

Revitalization: My skin is definately the correct color it is meant to be. I think it has been lightening it though because I am noticing a distinct difference in my neck and arms from my face. I notice the immediate effects, but when I am not wearing it I feel like my face is normal but there is nothing remarkable about it. I still love the warmth from the Vitamin C though.

Anti-Aging: I have not seen any difference in my face when it comes to anti-aging. I haven’t become 15 again. I think my skin cells are turning over nicely though because I have not sagged anymore. So I believe the product is doing well to minimalize damage and dead skin cells.

Conclusion

I really enjoy this product and will continue to use it. I love the warmth it brings to my skin and how it acts as a destressor for my mind. The chamomile is great for headaches. I did not see much in terms of better skin, but my skin has not aged anymore, so the cell turnover is accomplishing its goal. Great product, and I would definately recommend it to those who want an moisturizing, anti-aging serum with a great scent!
