Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser

  • Product: Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser
  • Vendor: Jurlique or
  • Initial Review: December 2015
  • Price: 34.00 USD
  • Reason for Purchase: I looked up reviews for best facial cleansers that are made for people with oily skin. I wanted one that would  help regulate my oil production cycle. Jurlique came up as one of the best and also the most affordable. It was said to be extremely gentle and would not strip away my natural oils to clean the skin. So I gave it a go…

The Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser has 3 main benefits on their website:

  • “Re-balances skin’s sensitivity
  •  Helps hydrate and re-balance dryness
  • Leaves sensitive skin clean and comfortable”

Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser

According to online reviews, the cleanser is calming, gentle, and smells wonderful. I expected the cleanser not to strip me of my natural oils. I wanted to have a cleanser that can clean the dirt without the acid that strips my pores. So I expect that the cleanser can be used in the morning to take off my night cream and keep my face moisturized.

The ingredients include Coconut Oil Acid that gives the product a soothing texture that can be described as an emollient (moisturizer) for skin. It also have Macadamia Seed Oil that have a lot of fatty acids that can also act as moisturizers for human skin. Other ingredients include Lithospermum Root that has anti-inflammatory properties and helps soothe burns, irritations and dryness. The Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser also has Linalool in it, which has a high concentration of Vitamin E, a great skin healer and moisturizer as well.

Coconut Oil Acid (Cocamidopropyl Betaine) – the coconut oil acid is used as a surfectant (foaming agent) to give the product its natural, soothing texture.

Macadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil – this oil is derived from the nut of the macadamia tree. It has plethora of fatty acids and palmitoleic acid that acts as both an emollient (conditioner) of the skin and a cleanser. (Source)

Lithospermum Root (Lithospermum erythrorhizon) – this root has been “been shown to be antimicrobial, antiviral, antifungal, and anti-inflammatory” and has been used to treat a number of skin problems such as “psoriasis, burns, cervical erosion, and hepatitis” (Source).

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride – these are fatty acids that are derived from coconut oil. The triglycerides are esters (essential oils) that can act as an emollient (moisturizer) to the skin.

Linalool – a great natural skin healer due to high levels of Vitamin E.

I have bought this product twice now. When I bought Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser, I wanted to stop fighting my natural oil production on my face so that I didn’t have more breakouts. When I over-wash my face, the oil production only goes into overdrive and I break out more due to too much sebaceous (oil and skin cells) material filling up my pores. This cleanser did not dry out my face and in fact kept it moisturized to the point where I did not have so much oil on my face in a day.

The cleanser did not stop my actual oil production or anything like that. I was oily, but the acne did not flare up nearly as much as it used to. My natural oil still sits there on my face, but I can control it with the Tarte Amazonian Powder, which soaks up that oil. I was also pretty soft after I use it, but I also did make sure to put on moisturizer after. I was not feeling “tight” or feeling any pain after I used it (you know that feeling after you’ve washed your face with salicylic acid?) and the smell is beautiful, like roses.

It only takes about 1 – 2 pumps of the liquid to clean your whole face, so this lasts about 6 months. It doesn’t foam like the title suggests, in fact it is more light and creamy. When I wash, I am able to keep my skin feeling “bouncy” and clean without completely stripping it. I enjoy the feeling after I’ve used it and I don’t feel the need to exfoliate as much because my acne is not as aggressive. So overall my pores are far more clean and tight now that I have been able to clean it without tearing at the epidermal layer.

Overall, I really enjoy the Jurlique Soothing Foaming Cleanser and I would recommend it to those who need a cleanser that both cleans and acts as a moisturizer. It will help those who have chronic acne because they won’t have oil over-producing on their face. That will help avoid too much dead skin cells and oil clogging pores. I have also recommended this to my roommate, and she too loves this cleanser.
