Vitamin C

This vitamin has the potential to reduce sun-damage before it occurs. The vitamin absorbs the harmful UV Rays before they hit the skin it protects. According to research, a 5% solution of sodium ascorbyl phosphate may be effective against acne. However, Vitamin C is the most unstable of the anti-oxidants. If it is not stable it is completely useless. Vitamin C when applied topically MUST be combined with another antioxidant such as Vitamin E so that it does NOT become a prooxidant (encourages “oxidization” and thus the breakdown of cells).
